Hello lovely readers!
I have a very, very exciting announcement to make! As of today, my wonderful QP Dani is going to be joining me as a co-blogger for Jellyfable! I'm so excited to be working with one of my favorite people to talk about one of my favorite things. But before I get too mushy, I will let Dani take it away with their introduction!

Meet Dani [they/them]
Hail and well met, new and familiar faces! Dani here, new jelly and another avid reader. I’m super stoked to be starting up here at Jellyfable HQ. Here’s a little about me if you’re interested!
Hail and well met, new and familiar faces! Dani here, new jelly and another avid reader. I’m super stoked to be starting up here at Jellyfable HQ. Here’s a little about me if you’re interested!
How long have you been a reader? What got you into reading?
Since I could read! I don’t remember a lot about when I first started, but I remember learning how and absolutely devouring everything I could. Newspapers, magazines, labels on food products; you name it, I read it aloud and annoyed everyone who had to listen.
My love of reading came from my own love of stories, but I remember being in complete awe at how fast and how many books my grandmother could read. She’s always been a big reader, and I wanted to be just like her!
What are your favorite genres to read?
I love YA primarily but am a solid fan of fantasy, sci-fi, fiction, classical literature and poetry!
How do you know a book will be something you will love, even before you read it?
This is a weird answer but if Kitty, our dutiful and lovely Main Jelly™ and my QP, loves a book before I get to read it, I know there’s a 99.99999% percent chance I will love it (unless it’s Dracula or something written by Charles Dickens. This is an ongoing war we have and I plan to win.) Also, if there’s a really unique magic system, political uprising, and queer characters. You give me all three and I am SOLD.
What are your favorite books of all time?
The Shades of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab is a forever favorite. But I am also a huge fan of Kafka on the Shore, The Song of Achilles, and Reincarnation Blues!
What are a few recent favorite books?
The Timekeeper trilogy by Tara Sim absolutely ruined me, it was amazing. The Witch Boy graphic novels, The Past and Other Things that Should Stay Buried, and the collection of poems “I wrote this for you” were all amazing.
Do you have any reading habits? Do you prefer to read in a specific spot or with a particular snack? What makes a reading experience the best for you?
As Kitty knows, I can’t read a physical book without specific book tabs from Barnes and Noble—they’re the rainbow transparent plastic arrows on the bookmark turntable thing at the register. I love them so much and I use them to mark my favorite spots in a book! Whether it’s a beautifully worded sentence, a funny line, or a really memorable scene, I like to put a sticky on it and come back to it.
The best reading experience is just reading, honestly. Although I must say, I love when I’m in a library and it’s so quiet and I’m surrounded by books at a table and everyone leaves me alone, haha. Especially if I’m analyzing poetry!
If you could spend the day with any author, who would you choose?
Probablyyyyy Victoria Schwab, David Levithan, or Robert Browning. I am a very huge fan of all three for different reasons (which I can’t get into because we’ll be here forever and a day).
What is your favorite book cover on your shelf right now?
The Bloom graphic novel and Earth to Charlie are so nice! I really love the Black Wings Beating cover too, it’s stunning.
What is a book you are really excited to start reading soon?
Charlie Jane Anders’ new book The City in the Middle of the Night! I thought their previous novel All the Birds in the Sky was such an interesting piece and I’m very excited to read their first YA novel!
I hope this was fun to read, or informative at the very least! If for some reason you want to chat, you can follow me over on my twitter account, @danilibasci!
Happy reading!
