Hello lovely readers! It's been awhile since I've done one of these and I desperately need to pare down my TBR! This tag was originally created by Lia and you can check out my first and second posts here.
Here's how the tag works:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
The Mermaid's Sister by Carrie Ann Noble As interested as I am in mermaid and fairy tale stories, there's nothing about this description that really calls to me. The general plot doesn't seem super compelling and I don't really know anyone who has read this one. Verdict: Never gonna read it |
The Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic by Emily Croy Barker This book seems like an NA dark fantasy which is awesome so I can see why I added it. Sadly, I also feel like I'd end up just being sad it wasn't more diverse. There are also a few reviews that say this was a planned series that was never continued so the ending isn't fulfilling. To be honest, I'd probably avoid it just for that. Verdict: Never gonna read it |
Stardust by Neil Gaiman I have never read a Neil Gaiman book and I'm very sad about that. Back when I first wanted to read his books, I picked out Stardust as the one I was going to start but I somehow never picked it up. I'm not sure if this is still going to be my starting point (someone tell me if you know of a better one!) but I'll leave it on my TBR for now. Verdict: Still on my TBR |
Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor I picked out this book as something that my sister would love based on nothing but hearsay from booktubers. Fortunately, I was right and she loved this series with all her heart. Unfortunately, I now don't have a choice in whether or not I read it because she loves it so much she won't let me take it off my TBR. Verdict: Still on my TBR |
The Leveller by Julia Durango Honestly. this book sounds like a not-as-good Warcross. I was really interested in it when it first came out but it's not nearly as intriguing to me now. I might still read it because I have a fiction project of my own that relates to video games, but I'm taking it off my TBR for now until I need it for research purposes. Verdict: Never gonna read it |
It so interesting to remember when and why I added so many books to my TBR. My interests have certainly shifted a lot!
