Hey folks, it's been a while! We are here to share what we've been reading. This post is based on the It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? tag created by Book Date
Kitty's Update
Happy Monday, everyone! It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? So many things have been going on for me including a really cool internship, some less-than-cool surgery, and graduation! I’ve been shifting a lot of my focus toward booktube lately, but I want to make sure I still keep my blog up and running because this place has always been my first bookish love.
What I read last week
I took it easy for a few days after The Reading Rush finished, but then I jumped into FIREBORNE by Rosaria Munda. If I’m being honest, I wasn’t expecting to love this book as much as I did. It ended up being an awesome mix of old school YA, reminding me a lot of Eragon, The False Prince, and How to Train Your Dragon with a solid sprinkling of the cadet training sections of Attack on Titan. It managed to tackled some pretty amazing topics when it came to government, military, and the reality of being asked to do the wrong thing for the right reasons by those forces.
I also read THE TEA DRAGON SOCIETY, a charming graphic novel by Katie O’Neill. Katie’s graphic novels are absolutely adorable and this may be my favorite one so far. Everything about it was so cozy and sweet and I would take a poster of literally any page to hang on my wall.
What I am reading at present
I’m currently travelling with my mom and we started the audiobook of TO KILL A KINGDOM by Alexandra Christo. This book didn’t immediately appeal to me when I first heard about it, but I’m taking part in the Mythathon and this is the group team for Team Aphrodite. I’m really liking it so far, though! It reminds me a bit of Six of Crows in the dark fantasy vibes and characters.
I’ve also just started BEYOND THE BLACK DOOR by A.M. Strickland. This book is a dark fantasy with asexual characters that I’ve been really excited about for a long tme and I can’t wait to get further in and share my thoughts!

Since I’m participating in both the Disney-a-thon and the Mythathon this month, I have a pretty set TBR to fill the challenges. I will probably start WE SET THE DARK ON FIRE by Tehlor Kay Mejia soon as that is on my TBR for both events. I’ve had friends telling me to read this book since before it first came out so it is finally time. I also plan to pick up A CURSE SO DARK AND LONELY by Brigid Kemmerer this week as that is the group read for Team Tangled.

Dani's Update
A very majestic Monday to all you jellies, we’re back! Hanging in there, going through the summer, reading all the books we can. Let’s jump back in and kick off our Monday happenings!
What I read last week
Oh man I read THE ADVENTURE ZONE: MURDER ON THE ROCKPORT LIMITED graphic novel! It’s the second installment of graphic novels by the incredible McElroy family. For those of you who don’t know, The Adventure Zone is a bi-weekly Dungeons and Dragons podcast that three brothers play with their dad: the oldest, Justin, the middlest, Travis, and the sweet baby brother Griffin. It started off with their original campaign “Balance,” in which their three characters journey around to find artifacts that have caused great danger to humanity, and in order to ensure they are never found again, they must hunt them down and destroy them. But now their podcast adventures are in visual form, and it’s wonderful. Go check it out if you’re a fan of D&D, silly goofs, and loveable characters.

GUESS WHO JUST STARTED THE STARLESS SEA that’s right it’s me, that’s what I’m reading now. And by “just started” I quite literally mean I picked it up yesterday and have not been able to put it down. Erin Morgenstern is back, y’all! I know we all fell in love with her debut The Night Circus, and even though I’m only 34 pages in so far, let me tell you: it’s just as freakin’ magical. She writes like an artist paints, piece by piece, showing you every detail until you get to the end result and it all ties together to make one gorgeous work. Her storytelling is so unique, and I can’t wait for it to get into everyone’s hands.

I’m a little torn on my next read! I’m reading slower than I normally do because I work long hours, but I recently acquired two ARCS I’m stoked about: LOKI by Mackenzi Lee and SCAVENGE THE STARS by Tara Sim. I am also sad to report there is an equally sad stack of books, published and ARC alike, that have yet to be read, so maybe I’ll dive into that too, who knows! Either way I’m excited to see, and hopefully I’ll have a new book to report next Monday when we return!
Until then, stay fab.
